we traveled across the sea or tiberias this morning and arrived in the city of capernum. here in capernaum, simon peter lived before he met a young man named jesus.
there are fantastic ruins of an ancient synagogue in capernaum. This synagogue is famous to Christians from the stories of the later half of the gospel of john chapter 6.
here it is. the synagogue is the bright white limestone building. the other black ruins are the native volcanic rock that the remainder of the city was built.
simon peters house is near the synagogue.
today it's a good example of churches one upping one another.
on top of his house is an ancient Byzantine church from the 6th century. on top of the Byzantine church is a Latin church.
